Hearing is our body’s ability to receive sound. Listening is our brain’s ability to interpret sound in a meaningful and functional way.
Auditory (sound) therapies are type of neuroplasticity therapy, and can be an excellent way to influence the performance and function of the brain.
Auditory Therapy
At Neuro Frontiers we are able to offer the Johansen Individualised Auditory Therapy (JIAS). You will receive an auditory assessment and an individualised listening programme to experience in the comfort of your own home. You will be spending just 15-20 minutes 6 days per week listening to generally relaxing music. The music is tailored to your individual needs, and will be adjusted in accordance with your progression throughout the programme.
It works to target specific areas of the brain, in particular those involved with hearing, speech, and language (including written language). Many people find it improves these, but also commonly report reductions in anxiety and improved sleep quality. See below for a list of conditions JIAS is commonly used for.
